Scott Miller

Chief Operating Officer, Catholic Funeral & Cemetery Services, Diocese of Sacramento

As the son of a Vietnam era veteran who served in Europe and the nephew of a Vietnam veteran, I am honored to be associated with this effort.

It’s been said that a person can die on earth two times; once with their physical death and again when their name is said for the last time. Memorialization and specifically the Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Wall keeps those who made the ultimate sacrifice alive in our hearts and minds.

This project also serves the living and enables so many, who cannot travel to Washington, DC, to experience the emotion and magnitude of loss that occurred, to remember fallen friends and family and to continue saying their names.

The ability to work on this project with so many passionate people is one of the great honors of my life.

Ashley Feeney

City Manager, City of Citrus Heights

Citrus Heights is a community that honors service and is home to many veterans. The Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Wall is an incredibly powerful and moving tribute to those that paid the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. The healing opportunities provided by this memorial is so powerful it is hard to put into words. Providing a west coast memorial will allow for more people to experience Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Wall which has helped bring peace to so many veterans and their loved ones. This memorial will also serve future generations in further developing reverence and honor for those brave men and women that have sacrificed so much throughout history in defense of our country and values. It is a privilege to work on this project with a group that are united in honoring our nation’s heroes.

This project is of great importance to me. The healing I personally experienced and watched other Vietnam veterans, and their families experience by visiting the “Wall that Heals” while it was here in Citrus Heights was overwhelming. To be able to visit and reflect in a quiet place that for me is hallowed ground will be of comfort and emotion. For it to be in our city will be of great pride.

To be able to touch the engraved names of the 10 men I served with and rest beside them one day…. That alone will make the effort it will take on my part worth everything required to fulfill Paul’s Dream that has become all of ours.

Jerry Del Core

Having been to the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial Wall on several occasions, I have seen impact “The Wall” has on survivors, veterans, parents, brothers, sisters and more. Watching people visit “The Wall” is almost beyond words.

Seeing Veterans touching the names of friends who did not come home, watching children etching the names of family members they never met, feeling for parents as they cry and pray for a lost son. Each in their own way is looking for a way to heal.

This project will allow those who were not fortunate enough to visit the wall in person the opportunity to touch “The Wall.” They will be able to pay their respects, share their feelings, connect and maybe even heal.

Kore Higuchi

Director of Operations, Grounds & Facilities, Catholic Funeral Cemetery Services, Diocese of Sacramento

The Citrus Heights Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Wall project is important to me because it honors the brave individuals who sacrificed their lives in a challenging conflict. It will offer a space for reflection, remembrance, and healing for veterans, families, and future generations for those living in the western United States and California. The Wall stands as a powerful symbol of respect and reconciliation, bridging past divisions and preserving the memory of those who served and died for their country.
